Demonstrating Leadership and Innovation: Bombardier Aerospace
Presents Impressive Range of Aircraft at Paris International Air Show
MONTREAL, QUEBEC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2007 -- With five
aircraft on display at the 47th International Paris Air Show,
Bombardier Aerospace will showcase its remarkable success in
launching innovative products and demonstrate its continuing strong
leadership in both the regional and business aviation markets. For an
up-close glimpse into the inner workings of a Bombardier aircraft,
there will be a special Technology display area, and an updated
full-size cabin mock-up of the CSeries aircraft.
"Bombardier's long tradition of technological advances and innovative
solutions is widely recognized within the aviation industry. This is
evidenced by the fact that our business aircraft unit continues to
attract a healthy infusion of new orders - 83 for the first quarter
of fiscal year 2007, compared to 33 for the same period last year -
and, with the recent regeneration of the U.S. airline industry,
Bombardier Aerospace received 91 net orders for regional aircraft,
compared to 19 for the same period last year," said Pierre Beaudoin,
President and Chief Operating Officer, Bombardier Aerospace.
Regional Aircraft
The number of orders that have been placed so far this year is
evidence that the Bombardier families of CRJ regional jets and
Q-Series turboprop aircraft are recognized for their cost
effectiveness, reliability and passenger acceptance. It also confirms
Bombardier's position of leadership within the industry.
On exhibit at the Bombardier static display area will be the new,
next-generation regional jet, the Bombardier CRJ900 NextGen - which
was recently delivered to Northwest Airlines - and a Bombardier Q400
turboprop aircraft.
Business Aircraft
Within the business jet market, Bombardier Aerospace continues to
enjoy a strong presence in Europe with a special emphasis on the
large aircraft market segment. The Challenger 600 Series of jets
leads the large aircraft market segment with an installed base of 103
aircraft, representing 53 per cent of the market share, making the
Challenger 600 Series of jets the undisputed European market leader.
The new Challenger 605 aircraft will be showcased at Bombardier's
static display, along with the Learjet 45 XR aircraft and the
Bombardier Global 5000 business aircraft.
Experience the Future Firsthand
This year, for the first time, Bombardier Aerospace will present a
special Technology display area in its pavilion. There, visitors will
be able to experience, firsthand, some of the state-of-the-art
technology and innovative solutions that go into Bombardier aircraft.
Each of the five stations will feature a video presentation.
Experience the Bombardier "Showcase on Technology:"
- Aircraft Aerodynamic Design
- Knowledge-Based Engineering - Helping You Visualize Your Interior;
- Active Noise and Vibration Control (by Ultra Electronics and
Bombardier Aerospace);
- Global Express Sleep Seats (by B/E Aerospace and Bombardier
Aerospace);
- Advanced Composite Structures

In addition, the Bombardier pavilion will reveal the latest
full-size, cabin mock-up of the CSeries aircraft - Paris will be its
first stop on a world tour. Featured in the mock-up will be the
forward galley with offset door configuration, two rows in business
class, four rows in economy class and the aft galley with a lavatory
area. The cabin permits airlines to experience the convenience of
overhead rotating bins, and the cross-section fuselage was recently
modified to provide additional passenger comfort. The CSeries is
designed specifically for the lower end of the 100- to 149-seat
commercial market. This aircraft is the perfect balance of proven
methods, materials and leading-edge technology designed to meet the
needs of airlines for 2013 and beyond.
The 2007 Paris International Air Show runs from Monday, June 18 to
Thursday, June 21 for trade visitors, and Friday, June 22 to Sunday,
June 24 for public visitors. The Bombardier Chalet is located at A370
and the Bombardier Pavilion is found within the static display area
behind the chalet. The air show attracts exhibitors from more than 40
countries and is forecasted to have over 200,000 visitors.
Bombardier Aircraft On Static Display Include:
CRJ900 NextGen: The Northwest Airlines regional jet on display will
showcase Bombardier's newly introduced CRJ NextGen aircraft interior,
designed with the overall passenger experience in mind. The cabin of
the CRJ900 NextGen regional jet will feature a two-class
configuration with 76 seats, soft LED lighting, enlarged passenger
windows and larger bins to accommodate the stowage of more carry-on
baggage.
Q400: When comparing the advances in technology, performance and
operating economics over previous turboprop designs, the Q400
airliner is clearly a higher profit alternative to jets on routes
below 500 nautical miles. The Q400 airliner provides jet-like speed
and outstanding cabin comfort to passengers worldwide. Seven years
after entering revenue service, the Q400 fleet has exceeded 1,000,000
flying hours.
Learjet 45 XR: The eight- to nine-passenger Learjet 45 XR aircraft
flies faster, farther and with more passengers than any other
super-light business jet. Its passenger cabin area is approximately
15 inches (38 cm) longer than that of its competitors, and it offers
seated passengers more head and shoulder room than any other aircraft
in its class. Delivering enhanced performance at high altitudes and
in hot temperatures, the aircraft can fly approximately 2,000
nautical miles (3,717 km) with eight passengers, two crew and full
fuel(i).
Challenger 605: In service since January 2007, the aircraft is
equipped with the full range of new features available aboard the
Challenger 605 jet, which include a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21
avionics suite and a state-of-the-art Ethernet-based Cabin Electronic
System. Featuring the widest stand-up cabin of any large category
business jet available today, it can whisk eight passengers from
Paris-New-York and London-Delhi non-stop(i), in superior comfort.
Bombardier Global 5000: The Bombardier Global 5000 jet combines
superior transatlantic speed with the largest cabin in the super
large segment. The aircraft can connect Berlin-Washington non-stop
with twelve passengers(i). It features state-of-the-art high-speed
Internet connectivity and unmatched entertainment options as standard
equipment as well as a heads-up flight display system, with the
largest field-of-view of any business aircraft.
