FIRST ELCOTEQ FORUM A SUCCESS
The first-ever Elcoteq Forum was held on October 28, 2008 in the
Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich, Switzerland. Hosted by Elcoteq's
Communications Networks Business Area, numerous Swiss and European
technology industry leaders took part. The majestic Hotel and its
beautiful surroundings provided participants with abundant
benchmarking and networking opportunities.
The event began with a highly informative presentation about trends
in globalization and the changes and challenges facing European
industry in 2009. The keynote speech was given by Professor Dr. Paul
Schönsleben, well known for his work at Zurich's ETH University. Mr.
Bruno Cathomen, Vice President, Sales and Business Development,
Communications Networks Business Area, Elcoteq, then presented the
host's perspective on globalization and the realities of
communications technology manufacturing in Europe. An open and
fruitful discussion followed.
"Globalization still offers strong growth potential for the
communication technology industry and other industries in Europe and
Asia," Mr. Cathomen said at the event.
"Globalization shows risks but also opportunities for key industries.
Focusing on engineering competence and education still are keys for
European and Swiss industrial companies", said Dr. Schönsleben.
