LEUVEN, Belgium - November 4, 2008 - Option (EURONEXT Brussels: OPTI;
OTC: OPNVY), the wireless technology company, today announced that a
new high-performance USB wireless modem with micro SD slot is
shipping to Vodafone.
Developed with Vodafone and targeted at both the tech savvy consumer
and enterprise markets, the Vodafone K3760 USB Stick will launch in a
number of European countries this year. The device will be available
for other Vodafone operators and partner networks during 2009.
Measuring just 74.8 x 26 x 12 mm and weighing around 22g, the new
device is Option's smallest and lightest USB product to date. The
compact and aesthetic device incorporates a revolutionary new sliding
mechanism to protect the USB connector.
The device is based on the Qualcomm 7225 chipset and uniquely
incorporates tri-band mobile broadband (HSPA) providing global
network access. It offers download data rates of up to 7.2 Mbps while
enabling uploads of up to 5.76 Mbps, subject to network
configuration. A micro SD Card slot adds to the device's versatility,
enabling users to store and secure up to 8GB of personal data
(depending on the capacity of the micro SD card).
"This new USB modem and the HSPA ExpressCard announced recently
demonstrate that Option continues to deliver high-performance devices
that meet the specific needs of the world's leading mobile
communications group" said Jan Callewaert, CEO of Option.
