Intersport to launch new Sport to the People store concept in Russia

INTESPORT FINLAND LTD PRESS RELEASE 11.10.2012 AT 10.00 1(1) Intersport Mega Dybenko and Intersport Gostiny Dvor are the first remodelled stores in St. Petersburg. Intersport is remodelling its stores in Russia in line with the Sport to the People concept. The first Intersport stores in St. Petersburg to undergo the remodelling are located in the Ikano Mega Dybenko and Gostiny Dvor shopping centres and will open on 11 October. In Moscow, the first new concept store opened in May. Today also in Russia, specialist sports store customers want to explore new hobbies, share their leisure interests, take healthy exercise and improve their wellbeing. The Sport to the People store concept highlights the variety and abundance of sports and leisure clothing and footwear selections. The new concept Intersport stores increasingly focus on customer service and diversified product selections for different sports. The retail area is divided between different sporting activities, with all running or football related products, for example, can be found in one place. The product offer of an Intersport store consists of the best mega brands, such as Adidas, Asics, Nike, Puma and Fischer, complemented with Intersport's own brands. The entire customer navigation in Intersport stores will change and fixtures will be streamlined. Environmental friendliness is part of the new concept and the remodelled stores will be entirely lit by LED lamps. "We have wanted to remodel the strategically most important stores first and then the others, at a rate of some three or four per year. The fact that the Ikano Mega Dybenko shopping centre has 14 million customer visits per year gives us an idea of the size of the Russian market," says Christoffer Jansén, Project Director of Intersport Finland's Russian operations. Intersport Dybenko has an area of 850 square metres, and Intersport Gostiny Dvor 500 square metres. There are 31 Intersport stores in Russia, located in shopping centres mainly in the St. Petersburg and Moscow regions. The Intersport licence and operations in Russia were transferred to Kesko in August 2011. Photos can be downloaded at http://aineistopankki.kesko.fi/kesko_en.
