Foundry Networks Demonstrates Multicast and Inter-Carrier MPLS
Services Interoperability At MPLS World Congress
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and PARIS, Feb. 7, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) --
Foundry Networks(r), Inc. (Nasdaq:FDRY), a performance and total
solutions leader for end-to-end routing and switching, today
announced its participation with the European Advanced Networking
Test Center (EANTC) to demonstrate multi-vendor interoperability of
advanced MPLS network services at the MPLS World Congress 2007 in
Paris. Foundry's NetIron(r) XMR series of IPv4/IPv6/MPLS
multi-service routers will successfully demonstrate Foundry's ability
to interoperate and deliver Layer 2 VPN and Layer 3 VPN services
seamlessly with 12 other major vendors in real-life inter-carrier
scenarios. The multi-vendor public showcase organized by EANTC will
be held at the MPLS World Congress 2007 in St Jacques Hotel and
Conference Center, Paris from February 7-9 2007.
At the heart of the demonstration is Foundry's award-winning NetIron
XMR Series, the highest performance single-shelf IPv4/IPv6/MPLS core
router. As part of this public showcase, Foundry will demonstrate the
ability of the NetIron XMR 16000 to offer inter-area Layer 3 VPN
services with multiple vendors. The NetIron XMR 16000 will also be
used to demonstrate LDP-based Virtual Private Line Services (VPLS)
with multiple vendors, which is ideal for offering multi-point Layer
2 VPN services. The NetIron XMR 16000 also supports standards-based
MPLS Fast Reroute (FRR) to enable the deployment of resilient
MPLS-based networks. Additionally, Foundry's NetIron XMR Series
supports the ability to offer inter-area Layer 2 VPN services using
stitched multi-segment pseudowires.
The NetIron XMR Series has an industry-leading 128 10-Gigabit
Ethernet ports in a single chassis and offers wire-speed performance
on all ports, independent of the services that are enabled on the
system. Purpose-built for the growing broadband service provider
infrastructure, the NetIron XMR Series will bolster the foundation
for media-rich multi-play services, as well as converged backbone and
broadband VPN offerings that are an integral part of next generation
service provider networks. Based on a superior terabit-scale
architecture that includes Foundry's cutting-edge fifth generation
programmable network processors, the NetIron XMR Series enables the
deployment of scalable, high-value, and profitable services and
offers enormous headroom for future growth in a provider's network.
Additionally, it offers highly versatile, cost-efficient solutions
for Internet routing, metro core, large-scale IP backbones and IP
carrier's carrier transport.
"We are committed to product interoperability and ensuring
standards-based implementations," said Ken Cheng, vice president and
general manager, High End and Service Provider Systems Business Unit
for Foundry Networks. "Foundry's NetIron XMR Series of Internet and
MPLS core routers delivers a network core solution that future-proofs
service providers' networks with unparalleled performance,
scalability, affordability and resiliency to deliver IPTV and
multi-play, media-rich services."
