Imtech rewards bachelor theses from TU Delft

First five UfD-Imtech grants awarded Gouda, The Netherlands, 27 March 2008 - On Tuesday 25 March, the first grants from the new UfD-Imtech Fund were awarded at Delft University of Technology. From the sixteen entries, five students or student teams were selected, which had been working for months to develop new technological solutions or introduce innovations for existing products. During the festive ceremony, which was also attended by top ice skater and entertainer Erik Hulzebosch, the five teams were each presented with a grant of two thousand euro. In the view of the professional jury, each team had written an excellent bachelor thesis, satisfying stringent requirements relating to technical innovation, practical applicability, interdisciplinary collaboration, social relevance and - last but not least - daring. The grants from the UfD-Imtech Fund were awarded this year for the development of the simulation game Simport MV2, extensive research into a solution for damage caused by Vortex vibrations in the offshore sector and the development of a user-friendly interface for a car navigation system. The other winners carried out research into the ideal medical respiratory mask for (young) children and the improvement of high-pressure water jets, used in the offshore sector for cutting or loosening up material below sea level. The UfD-Imtech Fund was set up in 2008 by Imtech and the Delft University Fund (UfD). The fund supports technical scientific research directly related to the markets in which Imtech is active, such as Buildings, Industry, Marine & Offshore and Infra/Mobility. Imtech contributed a sum of 30,000 euro to the University Fund, from which 5 Imtech Grants of 2000 euro will be awarded yearly to students who have written an excellent bachelor report, to provide them with a - financial - helping hand for further research or product development. Imtech's aim with this initiative is to foster relations with technical education in general, and the Technical University Delft in particular. Further information Imtech N.V.
