MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 08, 2009) - Bombardier Aerospace
returns to the Paris Air Show with four of its innovative aircraft.
One of the world's leading civil aircraft manufacturers, Bombardier
will showcase its aircraft portfolio by featuring on its static
display the Learjet 60 XR, Challenger 850 and Global Express XRS
business jets as well as the first delivered Q400 NextGen airliner.
In addition, a full-scale cabin mockup of the new, all-composite
Learjet 85 business jet will also be open for viewing at the static
display.
Bombardier aircraft on static display:
Learjet 60 XR: In service since July 2007, this aircraft is a proven
model of performance, comfort, value and versatility in the midsize
jet market. The Learjet 60 XR delivers a high cruise speed of Mach
0.81 (861 km/hr), superior climb capabilities, proven fuel-efficiency
and low direct operating costs per nautical mile(i). The jet's higher
operating altitudes - certified to 51,000 ft (15,545 m) - translate
to time savings due to better winds, less traffic and less
turbulence.
Learjet 85 mock-up: Launched on October 30, 2007, and moving
full-steam ahead towards entry into service in 2013, the new Learjet
85 aircraft will be the first Bombardier jet to feature an
all-composite structure and will be the first all-composite structure
business jet designed for type certification under U.S. Federal
Aviation Administration FAR Part 25. The aircraft will seat up to
eight passengers, target high-speed cruise of Mach 0.82 and a
transcontinental range of up to 3,000 nautical miles (5,556 km)(i).
The full-scale cabin mock-up features a double-club configuration,
full galley and Pro Line Fusion avionics. The abundance of natural
light is centre stage in this bright and airy environment that
features the latest in-cabin design and ergonomic detail from flight
deck to aft baggage compartment.
Challenger 850: This aircraft combines the outstanding dependability
of a CRJ200 airliner with an executive cabin and the superior level
of support business aircraft customers demand. The Challenger 850
aircraft features the cabin volume of an ultra-long range jet with a
transcontinental range of up to 3,044 nautical miles (5,636 km)(i)
and sets the comfort benchmark for its class.
Global Express XRS: The pioneering Global Express XRS business jet
features the largest cabin of any purpose-built corporate aircraft -
offering more cabin volume and more floor space than its closest
competitor. No other business jet in the ultra long-range segment
matches the high-speed range capability delivered by this aircraft.
Offering the ultimate in cabin comfort, this impressive jet can link
Paris-Los Angeles non-stop with eight passengers and three-to-four
crew(i). Bombardier's new Global Vision flight deck, the first
cockpit to feature Rockwell Collin's new Pro Line Fusion avionics is
scheduled for its first flight on a Global Express XRS jet this
summer.
Q400 NextGen: The large, fast, quiet and fuel efficient Q400 NextGen
turboprop provides the perfect balance of passenger comfort and
operating economics with a reduced environmental footprint. The
static display provides an excellent opportunity to view the new
NextGen aircraft interior featuring an enhanced overall cabin
environment with LED lighting, new ceiling panels, dished window
sidewalls and larger overhead bins. The Q400 NextGen airliner is one
of three optimized families of commercial aircraft produced by
Bombardier Aerospace.
Working together to reduce our environmental footprint
Recycling is an important step to creating a sustainable environment.
As the official sponsor of the 48th Paris Air Show recycling program,
Bombardier is proud to provide the recycling bins found throughout
the site. Each action, whether large or small, can make a difference.
The Bombardier chalet is another prime example of the company's
commitment to reduce its environmental impact. Following the
philosophy of use-and-reuse since 2002, the chalet features
sustainable and unique architectural features and workspaces,
recycled materials and emphasizes responsible manufacturing
practices.
The 2009 Paris International Air Show runs from Monday, June 15 to
Thursday, June 18 for trade visitors, and Friday, June 19 to Sunday,
June 21 for public vistors. The Bombardier chalet is located at A
