Sampo's Christmas donation to Tukikummit foundation
Sampo plc gives this year's Christmas donation to Tukikummit foundation for its
work with children and adolescents in underprivileged families. The donation
amounts to EUR 10,000.
- In these financially challenging times it is important to pay attention to the
well-being of children and adolescents. Tukikummit foundation does important
work giving children and adolescents opportunities to normal life and thereby
the foundation deserves our support, says Jarmo Salonen, Head of Investor
Relations and Group Communications.
Tukikummit foundation gives material help for underprivileged children and
adolescents living in Finland in risk of exclusion for financial reasons.
Different services, for example hobbies, can be financed and other material help
can be given. Grant decisions are made by Church Diaconia Fund.
- There are already 65,000 children and adolescents in danger of exclusion. Each
year this number increases by one thousand. Latest new characteristics of the
exclusion are inherited exclusion and exclusion caused by internet replacing all
human contacts. The human and social effects of exclusion are enormous and this
is why Sampo plc's donation is a notable take on society in which people care
about each other in the midst of difficulties, says Kalle Kuusimäki,
representative of the Tukikummit foundation.
Sampo plc has traditionally donated the money reserved for Christmas cards for
its various interest groups to charity to support work done for the public good.
